HYGIENIC ASSESSMENT OF SEDENTARY BEHAVIOR AFTER SCHOOL AMONG 8-11-YEAR-OLD CHILDREN

SUMMÀRY:
Objective. Study the sedentary behavior after school among 8-11-year-old children.
Study methods. 270 children of 8- to 11-year-old children and their parents participated in this study in Kyiv, Ukraine. Parents used a real-time objective measure to record children's activities after school.
Results. It was determined in the process of the study that the mean of after-school sedentary behavior of 8-11-year-old children is 212,7±4,8 mins or 66,9% of the total duration out-of-school time. A direct correlation was found between the increase in the duration of sedentary behavior and increasing age (from 8 to 11 years) (r=0,25; p<0,05). Results were based on 1350 responses from 270 child-parent dyads showed that 51,1% was spent in sedentary activities more than 3 hours per day.
