SUMMÀRY:
Objective. The aim of the study was to analyze various methodological approaches to studying the psycho-emotional state of students in conditions of prolonged armed conflict.
Object and methods of research: review of references on the issues of studying the psycho-emotional state of students.
Research results and their discussion. The psychological state of the population of our country deteriorated sharply after the start of active hostilities. Over 90% of Ukrainians have at least one symptom of anxiety disorders, and 40-50% of our citizens need psychological support of varying intensity, according to the latest sociological survey. A study of the emotional state of students and ways to protect their own psyche was conducted in order to build a program of psychological assistance to students during wartime by employees of the Department of General and Medical Psychology of O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University and G.S. Kostyuk Institute of Psychology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine. A sufficiently high level of aggressiveness and irritability of students in communication with others and parents was determined based on the analysis of the obtained indicators. The risk of academic stress among higher education students is an extremely serious problem in today’s environment. This situation is provoked by a number of factors: external and internal migration, forced interruptions in classes when an air raid alert is declared, emergency and planned power outages, as well as complete or partial damage to educational institutions. Experts from the Department of Psychology of Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University have established, based on a survey of 18-25 years old respondents, that during active hostilities, young people have a fairly pronounced level of predisposition to affective states, unmotivated anxiety, and intensity of emotions.
The problem of professional motivation arises during martial law. We have established that in total 44% of the surveyed students have an average level of motivation for acquiring knowledge, 35% have a high level, while 21% of respondents have a low level. 60% and 6% of the respondents of Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University have an average or low level of anxiety, respectively, but at the same time, almost a third part (34%) have been diagnosed with high levels. A group of Ukrainian specialists suggests organizing primary psychological screening in higher education institutions, primarily among first-year students, to identify signs of depression and anxiety.
Conclusions. Conducting various studies of the psycho-emotional state of students and promoting timely access to psychological services are extremely necessary and appropriate measures at the current stage of life under martial law. The practical implementation of this task requires increasing the level of qualification of doctors at all levels of medical care, which will ensure maximum coverage of vulnerable groups of the population with appropriate diagnostic examinations and, if necessary, treatment.
