THE ROLE OF DIETARY ADDITIVES IN HUMAN NUTRITION AND THE STATE OF CONTROL OF THEIR SAFETY AND QUALITY FOR THE CONSUMPTION AT MODERN STAGE

SUMMÀRY:
A scientifically based composition, which includes vitamins, minerals, plant and other biologi-cally active substances, such as amino acids, fatty acids, dietary fiber, probiotic microorganisms, etc., is one of the important links in the quality of dietary additives (DA).
Objective: We assessed the state of the control of the additives’ quality and safety for the con-sumption by the population of Ukraine.
Materials and methods: Legislation of Ukraine and the EU countries in the sphere of DA handling, samples of DA; DA quality and safety control methods.
Results and discussion: Today, many regulatory documents governing the turnover of DA in the country have been adopted in Ukraine, and, unfortunately, sometimes there are contradictions in their requirements. The state policy of Ukraine in the sphere of the circulation of DA contributes to the entry of falsified products at the market. As a result of DA studies in the laboratory, it was found that dietary additives often include substances that are not stated on the label or declared in the amount that does not correspond to the actual content of this substance in DA.
Conclusions: It is proved that it is necessary to identify dietary additives in the Ukrainian market, which contain drugs in their composition that are not approved for consumption in DA, and, therefore, they are unregistered drugs. It is necessary to strengthen the control over the violation of labeling and advertising requirements and ensure a possibility to control the excess of the approved doses of vitamins, minerals, etc. A real opportunity to confirm the safety and quality of DA available at the country's market to provide the population with quality and safe production should be introduced.
