Quality control of medicinal products placed in the Ukrainian market, as well as raw materi-als used to produce them, remains one of the priorities today, which gives the opportunity to defend and protect consumers from the poor quality products.
The aim of this research is an additional control of impurities in injectable preparations con-taining benzyl alcohol as an antimicrobial agent, which in the future will allow the market entry of safe drugs of high quality.
For research were used spectrophotometric and chromatographic methods of analysis.
Result of the tests it was found unknown impurity, which later turned out to be the product of the oxidation of benzyl alcohol, benzaldehyde. Recommendations have been made to the company manufacturers of injectable dosage forms containing benzyl alcohol, provide a compulsory control of the presence of impurities benzaldehyde and define limits of its contents to not more than 0,05%.
