SUMMÀRY:
The article examines a set of prerequisites influencing the formation and development of the food raw material standardization system in Ukraine. The relevance of the study is determined by growing requirements for the quality and safety of food products, both from consumers and international markets. Ukraine's deeper integration into the global economy, adaptation to EU legislation, as well as challenges related to climate change, war, and environmental instability, underscore the need to revise national food raw material standards.
The purpose of the article is to systematize and scientifically substantiate the key factors shaping the standardization process of agricultural raw materials, particularly in historical, economic, political, social, techno-technological, environmental, and international contexts. The object of the study is the system of technical regulation of food raw materials in Ukraine. To achieve this goal, the research applies methods of systemic, historical-logical and comparative analysis, content analysis of regulatory frameworks, and elements of inductive and deductive reasoning.
The study reveals that the legacy of Soviet-era regulatory approaches continues to influence the current state of Ukraine's national standardization system. At the same time, the country’s geopolitical course toward European integration necessitates harmonization with international standards (Codex Alimentarius, ISO, EN). Economic factors, including the development of the agro-industrial complex, export orientation, and technological modernization, underscore the practical need for unified quality requirements. Social and consumer expectations create demand for transparency, safety, and environmental responsibility, requiring updates to the regulatory framework.
Special attention is given to ecological and international challenges that transform standardization from a purely technical tool into a strategic instrument of trust, quality assurance, and market compliance. The study concludes that the establishment of an effective, transparent, and scientifically grounded system of food raw material standardization is a key condition for the sustainable development of Ukraine’s agricultural sector and its integration into the global food market.
