SUMMÀRY:
A study of various factors that affect the sex ratio in children with Down's syndrome is dis-cussed by many authors.
The spectrum of chromosome aberrations in the Down's syndrome includes regular trisomy (more than 90% of all cases), translocation variants (4.0-6.8%) and mosaics (2.2% on average). Regular trisomy constitutes a larger number of cases. It’s determines the characteristic prevalence of males among the sick individuals.
As a result of the analysis, it was found that boys were born more than girls, the sex ratio was 1.00 to 1.50. In general, the gender ratio is more than 1.00, indicating prevalence of boys over girls in Down's syndrome.
Women at the age of 30 and older have a highest opportunity (70.83%) to give birth to a child with Down's syndrome.
