In the work is given the complex hygienic assessment of the condition and quality of drinking water from centralized water supply system of Ukraine, are defined priority measures for its im-provement in modern conditions. It is shown that a high percentage of non-standard samples of drinking water from year to year is registered in Ukraine. It concerns both sanitary and chemical (11-14%) and microbiological (3-5%) indicators, which may pose a threat to public health. Are given the arguments about unreality of improving the quality of drinking water of centralized activities in the next few years. Achieving this goal in modern conditions is possible by the introduction of purification of drinking water in the place of its consumption (use of household water treatment and collec-tive filters and systems).
